World Cup 2010 Havaianas

My brother-in-law sent us some cute Havaianas in time for the World Cup.  France has already gone home, but it's still fun to have something World Cup-related to wear.  I like the little flags on the thong strap:

They came in a box that said they were inported from Spain.  I've only ever gotten them off a rack already out of the box, so it was interesting to see the packaging.

Merci Francois!

Here is a cute commercial for the World Cup 2010 Havaianas:

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey

I've worn Black Honey forever.  It's one of the few shades that I purchase again and again.  There are two  reasons I've bought it so often - it's a beautiful shade I wear alot, and then I keep losing it- I just found one yesterday in the back of a storage closet.  It had to have been from at least 3 years ago, judging by the other items it was found with...does that make me a cosmetic archaeologist? Now I keep it in my car because that way I always have a lipstick.  Because it is sheer it can be applied without a mirror, so it's handy to apply while driving, almost like putting on chapstick.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

I would like to visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park because it looks simply amazing-  the black crust broken open by the hot, fire-red lava, the steam rising from the places where the lava flows into the ocean, the wind blowing all around.  The texture of the cooling lava is really beautiful and it would be an unforgettable experience.

Where's Your Suitcase?

It's the weekend again!  Seems like time really flies once the sun starts shining.  For this Saturday's travel post, I'm thinking about travel preperations that we all have to make before we leave on vacation.  I have to worry and obsess over every detail of how the trip will unfold because that's just how I am.  I go over and over what is being packed, and how my husband and I will maneuver around with our three kids, the luggage and a stroller.  How are we going to keep track of all that stuff?

If you take the time to attach a marker to your luggage before you travel, it will definitely cut down on airport-related stress.  The more colorful, the better. You will be able to spot your suitcases on the conveyer belt faster, and where so many people have black, red or navy suitcases it is nice to make your suitcase stand out so you can spot it quickly in case someone is walking off with it, either accidentally or intentionally.  Have fun with your luggage and don't be shy to add some unique touches to it!

Memories of Disneyland Paris

It's the weekend!  I'd like to use Saturdays to post about travel- places I've been and places I'd like to go.  The first place? Disneyland Paris.  When we (Mr. Mother of Style, the kids and I) visit France we usually start or end with a trip to Disneyland Paris.

Entrance to Disneyland

View from top of Alice's Curious Labyrinth

Indiana Jones et Le Temple du Peril is one of the best rollercoasters in Disneyland Paris.  We also really like the Crush Coasters and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast (aka Astroblasters) - one of my family's favorites!

In the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.  This was after we'd come down a little and I was done being nervous about the height.  Of course my kids didn't think twice about the height and had fun exploring :)

Sleeping Beauty meet and greet.  At Disneyland in the US everyone lines up in an orderly fashion and waits their turn.  In Paris the crowd rushes the character in an orderly fashion...

Flying Carpets over Agrabah in the Walt Disney Studios Park

Hotel New York

Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.  A taste of the dramatized Wild West show that is a part of American folklore.

Mickey and Minnie waving goodbye to everyone as the park closes.

On a trip like this I like to wear Converse, jeans or shorts and a pretty T-shirt, and a cardigan topped off with a scarf to still give me a little fashion flair.  We always have a stroller, so that means I will leave diapers (when we used them) and sippy cups in bottom and then a tote bag or little back pack that I take with me once we park the stroller.  It usually carries lip gloss, advil, face wipes, hand-sanitizer, our camera and sunglasses.  On this trip we bought a pack of Mickey-shaped lollipops that stayed in the bag as well- it's nice to have something to occupy little kids when you are in line :).
